During the performance of the work composed by Pergolesi in 1736, images edited by Michel Steinberg and Mariano García were projected, linking the text and music with the horror of the years of dictatorship.
Thus, documentary images from the 1970s were seen, some clandestine detention centers such as the Mar del Plata Lighthouse and the Navy Mechanics School, which dialogued with illustrations created by Dalmiro Zantleifer Ojeda.
The performance highlighted the intense similarity between María (a mother of unconditional loyalty) in the face of her son’s torture, and the feat of the Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo. Thus, the soprano Marisú Pavón and the mezzo Lídice Robinson, dressed in white tunics, moved with their voices.
But it was the female choir, which also wore white tunics and headscarves, that managed to create greater atmospheres of distress.
The string and organ ensemble also stood out, under the musical direction of Miguel Ángel Pesce.
