Julian Nagelsmann: His lumberjack shirt goes under the hammer

The successful debut of the new DFB coach Julian Nagelsmann also made fashionable headlines. His lumberjack shirt is now being auctioned off for a good cause.

The debut of the new national coach Julian Nagelsmann was a complete success. Not only did his DFB team impress in the 3-1 win against the USA in Hartford, but also the former Bayern coach’s outfit. On the sidelines, Nagelsmann wore a striking, unbuttoned lumberjack shirt in light blue colors, underneath a black shirt, black pants and white sneakers. The 36-year-old revealed that the shirt is now going under the hammer for a good cause.

In an interview with Nagelsmann, he said: “I won’t wear it again because I have agreed to auction it off for a good cause.” The shirt will be made available for the RTL telethon. Nagelsmann will be wearing a new outfit for the game against Mexico (Wednesday, October 18th, 2 a.m.). In general, he obviously wasn’t happy with the hype surrounding his look: “There was a bit too much fanfare about it.” The expected donation to the good cause fills him with “more feelings of happiness than if everyone reports about my clothes,” said Nagelsmann.

That’s what Julian Nagelsmann’s flannel shirt costs

Shortly after the final whistle, the lumberjack shirt was the subject of interviews. Nagelsmann received a lot of praise from the journalists on site: “I liked it too, that’s why I wore it, thank you,” he himself commented on his outfit. It was a good idea from the outfitter. Even his player Thomas Müller made a comment when asked about it. He would also wear a shirt like that at any time; he even has “several of them in his closet.”

Striker partner Niclas Füllkrug cleverly avoided the question about his boss’s look at the DFB and only said that he didn’t want to judge Nagelsmann by his clothes. Even the opposing coach Gregg Berhalter, no stranger in Germany due to his long-term positions at Energie Cottbus and TSV 1860 Munich, had to be asked a question about his counterpart’s outfit. His response: “His outfit. Oh, my God.”

Julian Nagelsmann’s checked flannel shirt comes from a collection by the official DFB fashion partner Van Laack and can be purchased for 309.95 euros.
