The offer would eliminate the $1 million limit on membership fees. In an effort to achieve a residual system, the stars have also proposed a formula that would make the names lowest on the call sheet and most in need of the money the first to receive the payment.

The Deadline portal revealed on Tuesday that a quorum of stars that included George Clooney, Emma Stone, Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry and Scarlett Johansson met with SAG leaders, including Fran Drescher and Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. The proposal was raised to the union’s negotiating committee.
Deadline spoke with Clooney, who confirmed the stars’ proposed plan.
“Many of those who earn the most want to be part of the solution”Clooney said. “We have offered to eliminate the dues cap, which would bring more than $50 million to the union annually. More than 150 million dollars in the next three years. We believe that it is fair that we contribute more to the Union. We also suggest a bottom-up residual structure. Meaning that the top of the call sheet would be the last to collect residuals, not the first. These negotiations will continue, but we wanted to show that we are all in this together and find ways to help close the gap in pay for actors”.
