Cornelia Funke enjoys hosting many friends and artists in her house in Tuscany. She’s not just happy about the inspiration.
The writer Cornelia Funke likes it when she can receive a lot of visitors at home. “I really love it, just having people here. I’m someone who really enjoys it,” said the Hamburg native to the German Press Agency.
Funke moved from Los Angeles to Tuscany two years ago and lives there on a small farm near the Italian city of Volterra. As in LA, she often hosts her family and friends there.
Apartments for artists
Funke also offers many young artists space there to work and inspire each other. There are four small apartments in their house that were previously rented out to tourists. “Meeting young artists from all over the world is such an enriching experience. I love living like this. And I’m already fully booked until the end of 2024.”
A few days ago, Funke published the fourth volume of their Ink World series. The book “The Color of Revenge” tells of Dustfinger and the Black Prince and asks the question of whether words or images are more powerful. On Saturday, Funke visits the Frankfurt Book Fair for the first time in 13 years and reads from her book, which is already number 1 on the Spiegel bestseller list.
