Robert Plant returned to sing “Stairway To Heaven” live for the first time in 16 years

The Led Zeppelin frontman was among special guests at a benefit concert hosted by Duran Duran founding guitarist Andy Taylor.

Robert Plant performed the classic live Led Zeppelin “Stairway To Heaven” for the first time live since 2007.

The soloist and former leader of Led Zeppelin revisited the iconic 1971 song, taken from the album “Led Zeppelin IV” of the band, during a benefit concert on Saturday night (October 21).

Performed for The Cancer Platform, the live show was developed by Cancer Awareness Trust and hosted by former guitarist of Duran Duran, Andy Taylor. It took place at Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire, England and featured appearances by other famous faces, including Ella Henderson and Andrew Ridgeley of Wham!the former bassist of Pink Floyd Guy Prattthe comedian Katherine Ryan and the renowned drummer David Palmer.

One of the highlights of the evening, called An Evening with Andy Taylor and special guests, emerged with the performance of Plant, who performed the songs of Led Zeppelin “Thank You”, “Black Dog” and “Stairway to Heaven”. The latter marked the first time she had sung the song in 16 years.

She last sang the world-famous song in public in 2007 at London’s O2 Arena, which was later released as the concert film Celebration Day.

The weekend concert in Oxfordshire was not the first charity concert held in support of the Cancer Awareness Trust. In August, Duran Duran He also performed a one-off show at the Guild Theater in Menlo Park, California, to raise funds for the charity.

Held in honor of Taylor, who left the band in 2006 and revealed his own prostate cancer diagnosis last year, the concert raised money to fight cancer and help develop special treatments that allow patients to prolong their lives.
