The Coronation Food Project was founded in December 2022. The king has already supported the launch with a “personal donation”. The plan: Eight food centers will be opened in the UK that collect and distribute food to food banks and charities. The first four so-called food hubs are to open in London, Liverpool, Glasgow and Northern Ireland, followed by Cardiff, Leeds, Birmingham and Milton Keynes. “This new initiative will work with farmers, supermarkets and organizations to ensure surplus food is redistributed to support communities,” the project’s website says. And continued: “The Coronation Food Project aims to tackle food waste and food insecurity in all four countries of the UK. The aim of the project is to rescue surplus food and redistribute it to those who need it most.”
