Despite her young age, Kyle Jenner is extremely successful economically. Now the short-term billionaire has announced her next company. And he put in the work himself to do it.
A chicly styled, very pretty young woman sits on a carpet with a lascivious look. The black hair falls over the equally black leather coat, the bright red pumps on the exposed legs add a colorful accent. But it’s not a generic Instagram post. But it should be the start of Kylie Jenner’s next million-dollar business.
This cannot be easily concluded from the description. “Meet khy.” is the only text on the post. Nice to meet you. But users only find out what exactly Khy really is when they click on the link in the image. There you can also find a solution to what the post is actually about: The real star of the picture is the leather coat. Jenner also wears it in the company’s only two posts. Or rather wore: Strangely enough, the account has now disappeared.
Lots of attention, little content
What still exists is the company’s website, which Jenner links to in her Instagram bio. Visitors to Khy.com can once again expect Jenner in a leather coat, but this time from behind. We only know that it is Jenner because the picture comes from the same series as the photos on the deleted account. Your face is not visible on the company website. The image focuses entirely on the tightly tailored leather coat.
The site itself also has little to offer: you can only apply by email for early access to the as yet unannounced product.
Jenner knows the business
With the production, Jenner shows once again that she has mastered the business of attracting attention on social media perfectly – and knows how to use it for her own purposes. Despite the lack of information, the company’s founding spread like wildfire on Instagram, Snapchat and Co. The hype machine is rolling.
This has worked brilliantly for Jenner in the past. Jenner, who became famous alongside her famous sisters Kim and Khloe Kardashian on the reality show “Keeping up with the Kardashians”, has long since built an empire for herself with clever self-marketing – and she only turned 26 in the summer.
Young and successful
Her cosmetics company started. When she was just 18 years old, she started selling lipsticks under the name Kylie Lip Kits in November 2015. The company was quickly renamed Kylie Cosmetics and the portfolio expanded to include numerous other cosmetic products. And made Jenner rich. In 2019, Forbes estimated her fortune at $1 billion for the first time – and at the age of 21, Jenner was declared the youngest self-made billionaire of all time. She tried to brush aside doubts as to whether Jenner, who grew up in privilege, had actually earned the money herself. In an interview, she emphasized that she had managed without money from her parents since the age of 15.
Jenner is no longer a billionaire – the sales failures during the Covid period also affected her – but with assets worth an estimated $700 million, things are anything but bad for her. Also because it is now much more broadly positioned. In addition to her shares in Kylie Cosmetic, she invested in her own skin care company, Kylie Skins. With Kylie Baby, the mother of two sells baby products. And she also gained her first experience in the fashion world: Last year she launched her own swimwear collection, Kylie Swim.
It remains to be seen whether Khy – the first of her brands that does not have her full first name – will be similarly successful. Unlike beauty products or swimwear, a leather coat is a significantly more expensive purchase that even the most loyal fans have to think carefully about. But it shouldn’t fail because of one thing: the attention is once again huge.
