The star-Interview with Til Schweiger raised the question of whether the filmmaker was paving the way for an early return. And a colleague wishes you all the best.
For the first time since the allegations against him became known, Til Schweiger has spoken out. “Der Spiegel” reported in April that the director was apparently drunk and abusive towards employees on the set of “Manta Manta – Second Part”. The filmmaker spoke about the filming with great openness – and also admitted to having an alcohol problem. “There was a situation where I wasn’t myself because of my drinking,” the filmmaker told the star. In the conversation, the 59-year-old also reported that he had now sought medical help.

The two authors particularly praise the detail with which Schweiger addresses the allegations against him: “In contrast to many German filmmakers, whose interviews are often edited by press agents until they sound like they come from a PR machine, Schweiger is honest surprisingly open.” He also had a few correct and important arguments to make in defense of his behavior on set. What courage it takes under such public pressure and while still in therapy – I really take my hat off,” wrote Nora Tschirner in her Insta story. And director colleague Tom Bohn, who filmed numerous Tatort episodes, commented on X (formerly Twitter): “Good luck, Til. Go for it!”
