Hilary Duff shares photos of the birth of her daughter on Instagram

Hilary Duff became a mother for the third time in March. The actress shared photos of her daughter’s home birth on Instagram – and wants to show how strong women are.

In the spring, actress Hilary Duff became a mother for the third time. She gave birth to daughter Mae James in a tub at home on March 24th. Three months later, she feels ready to share some photos of the birth, writes the 33-year-old on Instagram and published a series of pictures. It shows, among other things, how Duff is supported by her husband and midwife during labor. “My husband is the calmest anchor in the room when I feel like I’m going up the walls,” writes the actress about the musician Matthew Koma, to whom she has been married since 2019. The couple already have a two-year-old daughter. Duff’s nine-year-old son Luca comes from a previous relationship.

Hilary Duff: It took three hours to give birth to your daughter

Her mother Susan was also present at the birth, as Hilary Duff reveals in her post. She took care of snacks for everyone present and looked after her two grandchildren. “She watched her baby give birth to a new grandchild with a big, nervous smile,” writes Duff. “The help I have to support my other children while I am unable to do so is perhaps the most comforting thought of all.”

The US magazine had already revealed Hilary Duff a few weeks after the birth that the delivery only lasted about three hours – and that her son just came into the room “when I had squeezed out the baby”. The nine-year-old was originally supposed to be present at the birth. “But then it happened so quickly that he missed it,” said Duff.

“It was somehow important to me because I really value being open and honest with him, how strong women are and what a birth looks like. He knows everything about the period and it is important to me to have this conversation with him to normalize, for all the women who will be in his life. A nine year old boy sometimes thinks, ‘Well, men have bigger muscles,’ but we bring life to this world. We move a baby through our body. “

What great achievements women achieve in childbirth, she also makes clear in her post: “It’s hard work. Every way a woman gives birth to a baby is. From pregnancy to caesarean section to hospital birth or at home, breastfeeding (oh my dear, that bothers me every time) and responsible raising of these little beings to be upright, trustworthy, friendly citizens of this world.
