After Matthew Perry’s sudden death at the age of just 54, numerous fans remembered the US-Canadian actor in front of the “Friends” house in New York. They placed flowers and notes with messages on a street lamp in front of the building.
The multi-story house on a street corner in the West Village in Manhattan was used as the home of several main protagonists in the hit series “Friends”, in which Perry played the role of Chandler Bing, using exterior shots, but was filmed in a studio in Los Angeles. No happy ending in life

Thank you for being our friend,” one of the notes read Monday. “Thanks for making me laugh,” read another. “I’m glad Chandler got the happy ending you deserved too.” Towards the end of the series, Chandler Bing marries his true love Monica Geller, adopts twins with her and moves to a suburb of New York.
Many other messages also alluded to the series “Friends,” with which Perry celebrated his greatest professional successes. “The one where we all lost a friend” was written on several pieces of paper – alluding to the titles of the individual episodes of the series, which in the original almost all began with ” “The one”. “It will never be the same without you.” Hundreds of people flocked to the “Friends” house over the weekend and on Monday, stopping and taking photos.
“Friends” was cult in many countries
Perry was found dead in a hot tub at his home on Saturday, US media reported. Nothing was initially known about the cause of death, but foul play was ruled out. In his autobiography, published in 2022, the actor wrote openly about his decades-long battle with alcohol, drug and pill addiction.
“Friends” became Perry’s biggest success. The 90s hit revolves around the lives of a group of young friends in New York. The series was produced in the USA from 1994 to 2004 and became a television cult in countless countries. For the special program “Friends: The Reunion” in 2021, all six main actors – Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow – came together again.
