Selena Gomez is currently taking a break from Instagram. In a story she explains the reason for this.
Selena Gomez (31) told her more than 430 million followers that she is currently taking a break from the platform. Apparently she wants to stay away from social media due to the Middle East war.
“I’ve taken a break from social media because it breaks my heart to see all the horror, hate, violence and terror going on in the world,” Gomez writes. The killing and torturing of people and “any act of hatred against a particular group” are “horrible.”
“I wish I could change the world”
“We must protect everyone – especially children – and stop the violence once and for all,” she continues. Gomez is sorry “if my words are never enough for everyone […]. I can’t stand by and watch innocent people get hurt. That’s what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t do that.” Gomez says goodbye with the words: “With love, Selena.”
Numerous US stars have commented on the war in the Middle East in recent weeks. 55 well-known artists from the entertainment industry contacted Joe Biden (80). Among others, Joaquin Phoenix (49), Mahershala Ali (49), Cate Blanchett (54) and Kristen Stewart (33) called on the President to work towards a ceasefire. Many other celebrities, including Bradley Cooper (48), Katy Perry (39) and Justin Timberlake (42), later thanked Biden for his leadership in the war between Israel and the terrorist militia Hamas. They also asked him to continue to focus on the hostages in Gaza.
