Weekend in CABA: free activities and parties that you can’t miss

What can you do this weekend in Buenos Aires?

The Night of the Record Stores

This Thursday from 6:00 p.m. you can take advantage of discounts and promotions by purchasing in person at stores and participating online sales sites. Like every year, there will be exclusive releases and live music so that music lovers can enjoy a good time surrounded by vinyl and CDs.

Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival

It takes place from this Thursday until Sunday. There will be national and international concerts, presentations of new albums, films, young projects selected from calls, masterclasses and international clinics. For shows that require prior reservation, tickets will be reserved 48 hours in advance from the same website.

The opening will be this Thursday at 8 p.m., with a double concert in the Auditorium Room of the Usina del Arte. This concert will feature the outstanding Chilean pianist Felipe Riveros, accompanied by two renowned Argentine musicians: Juan Bayón on double bass and Carto Brandán on drums.

Pride Week

The City dresses once again in the colors of the rainbow to honor and celebrate diversity during #BAPride Week, which continues this weekend with different proposals:

  • Independent Culture Month: this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Parque Centenario Amphitheater (Leopoldo Marechal 832) artists from the LGBTQ+ collective will perform: Audia Valdez, Amantes and Electrochongo. Free entry with prior registration.
  • LGBTQ+ Pride March: on Saturday the fair will run from 10 a.m. and different musical bands will perform from 11 a.m. The March will take place starting at 5 p.m., from Plaza de Mayo to the National Congress. The objective is to make visible the claims and achievements of the group as well as express pride and freedom due to sexual orientation, identity and gender expression.

Buenos Aires Celebrates Afro

There will be more than 40 gastronomy stands and different cultural expressions of the Afro Community, made by artisans, producers and entrepreneurs. The event will begin with a parade around the square and then on stage there will be a variety of shows. On Sunday from 12 at the Plaza “Parques Nacionales Argentinos” (Av. Figueroa Alcorta and Echeverría).

Independent Culture Month

With a wide variety of artistic proposals that include theater, dance, literature and music, Independent Culture Month takes place until November 30, with more than 600 activities in 156 cultural spaces spread across 30 neighborhoods of the City. In addition, there is special programming at the San Martín Cultural Center, Parque de la Estación and Parque Centenario.

Unconventional Festival

Three free activities stand out:

  • Chat with Christian Marclay + Performances by Argentine experimental DJs. This Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Artlab (Roseti 93). Free entry with prior reservation.
  • Found in Buenos Aires (world premiere). This performance based on improvisation combines the sounds produced by the summoned musicians with those that Christian Marclay generates from manipulating, hitting and rubbing objects collected in different locations in the City. On Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Parque de la Estación (Lt. Gen. Juan Domingo Perón 3326). Free.
  • Babel Ensemble Concert (Switzerland): “Walking Venezia”. National premiere of a new project by the renowned Swiss ensemble. On Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at PROA XXI (Av. Don Pedro de Mendoza 2073). Free.

Andean Animal Festival

The Cuyo emerging music festival celebrates its fifth edition with talks, showcases and calls, cultural exhibitors, flash tattoo and an integrated show with musical and visual artists from different provinces. Friday from 3pm at the Recoleta Cultural Center (Junín 1930). Free.

International Independent Circus Festival

The ninth edition continues until Sunday, with shows from Belgium, Spain, Italy and Argentina. The program includes 12 activities in which the public can enjoy all the circus events on the national and international scene. There are indoor and street shows with free, discounted and paid tickets in different spaces in the City.

Galileo Galilei Planetarium

There are guided tours on weekends, at 2 and 4:30 p.m., with free entry and prior reservation. In addition, on Saturdays and Sundays, starting at 8 p.m., the telescopes are taken out to observe the cosmos. The activity is free and on a first-come, first-served basis, with a capacity of up to 250 people.

Mataderos Fair

A place to tour the country through a Gastronomic Patio and a Walk of Crafts and Regional Products, to taste our typical dishes and purchase manufactured products from different regions of the country. It takes place on Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Av. Lisandro de la Torre and Av. de los Corrales.
