Buenos Aires Jazz International Festival: where and until when it takes place

The event started on Thursday and lasts until Sunday. The opening featured a double concert in the Auditorium Room of the Art Factorystarring the prominent Chilean pianist Felipe Riverosaccompanied by two renowned Argentine musicians: Juan Bayon on double bass, and Carto Brandan on battery.

Regarding the location of the event, it is worth mentioning that the jazz sounds in every corner of Buenos Aires. You will find an interesting agenda in the Art Factory, The Cultural San Martínhe Golden Hall of the Teatro Colónhe Cinema Museumthe DGEART stained glass window, Bebop Club, Jazz Voyeur Club, Prez – Jazz & Music Club, Thelonious Club and the Nueva Uriarte Cultural Center.

Musical programming

The local programming has a wide variety of proposals, arising mainly from the two calls launched in the month of July: New Records and New Generation (aimed at musicians up to 35 years old).

In this new edition, the festival once again welcomes international musicians, with the presence of the trumpeter duo Fabrizio Bosso and the pianist Julian Mazzariello (Italy), the voice and piano duo of Vanessa Moreno & Salomão Soares (Brazil), Antonio Guerra Trio (Brazil), the pianist Felipe Riveros (Chile), the flutist and singer Maria Toro Quartet (Spain), the pianist Moises Sanchez (Spain), saxophonist Magnet Spaargaren and the trumpeter Gerard Kleijn (Holland), the “Palito Miranda Ensemble” (Paraguay) led by drummer Victor Moreland the group “Contemporary Ecuador” (Ecuador).

He Friday the 3rdat 19.30he Audience will receive Tandem duo made up of the Italian trumpeter Fabrizio Bossoand the pianist Julian Mazzariello. Furthermore, in the emblematic Golden Hall of the Teatro Colón (Liberty 621), at 19there will be room for “Plays Mingus”the concert that the Argentine pianist will give Nicolas Guerschberg.

Meanwhile he saturday 4at 18in the Chamber Room you can enjoy a visual and musical experience with “TRANSCRIPTS”a cross between local and international musicians in a free improvisation concert based on the live projection of 14 works by the visual artist Pedro Strukelj. Also, come back “Classroom”an exclusive space for vocalists, led by the Brazilian singer Vanessa Moreno in her Masterclass in the hours of 14:30.

Meanwhile, the sunday 5in the same space, at 16will be presented Cirilo Fernandez Triocomposed of its leader on piano, Mariano Sivori on double bass and Pipi Piazzolla on battery. And, to close this iconic festival, you can go to the Audienceat 19for a double closing concert with Vanessa Morenoa duet with the pianist Salomao Soares.

Furthermore, like every year, it develops ‘Classroom’a space for training and exchange within the festival, which has masterclasses, clinics and talks from renowned national and international musicians.

Cinema and jazz

Like every year, there is room for cinema linked to the world of jazz. They stand out among them Rewind & Playa French film directed by Alain Gomis in which the visit of Thelonious Monk to a television program France; and, in the Argentine premiere, the Colombian Long live Edy!the history of music Carlos Ospinawhich accompanies the vital and artistic path of the still active Colombian Edy Martíneza fundamental figure in the emergence and boom of Latin jazz in the New York from the ’70s. The cycle will be projected in the Cinema Museum and the Cultural San Martin.
