People: Bryan Adams on wars: “It’s obviously shocking”

The Canadian singer released the anti-war ballad “What If There Were No Sides At All” in the spring. Today, given the wars in the world, he asks himself why things continue like this. “It never ends.”

Rock musician Bryan Adams (64) thinks about the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. “It’s of course shocking what’s happening right now and it frustrates me that you’re so helpless,” Adams told the German Press Agency.

“At the same time, as a father of two, I can’t just sit back and say nothing. But how do you say something these days without being canceled? It’s very difficult.”

The Canadian singer (“Run To You”, “Summer Of 69”) released the anti-war ballad “What If There Were No Sides At All” in the spring. “I wrote the song a few years ago when there was another clash in the Middle East. I asked myself why this keeps going on. It never ends.”

“History always repeats itself”

Adams sang the anti-war song “Don’t Drop That Bomb On Me” in 1991. He felt that as an artist he had to say something about the topic. “But nothing has changed. You might think that we learn from history. Instead, history keeps repeating itself.”

The 64-year-old is launching his box set “Live At The Royal Albert Hall” on December 8th, including a DVD and CD of his performance at the legendary London concert hall last year. There he performed his albums “Cuts Like A Knife”, “Into The Fire” and “Waking Up The Neighbors” on three evenings.
