Television: Oliver Mommsen: “You don’t have to hate each other right away”

The marriage of the former “Tatort” commissioner was already in crisis before Corona. But both don’t want to part as enemies – if only because of the children.

Actor Oliver Mommsen has spoken about his separation from his wife Nikola. Even before Corona, the love between them had turned into a deep friendship, the 54-year-old former “Tatort” detective explained to the magazine “Bunte”. “We had a few rocky years, but at some point we sat down and thought about how we could achieve a sensible separation.”

Her two adult children were also a reason for her “that we don’t want to become each other’s enemies and never want to completely close the door on each other,” said Mommsen, who lives in Berlin. “Just because you don’t love each other anymore doesn’t mean you have to hate each other.” The way there was not always free of stones and was long, said the actor. “But we did it.”

The 54-year-old says he has a new girlfriend. He is therefore keeping the relationship out of the public eye for the time being. “We’ve known each other for a while now, we’ll let it happen,” said the actor. When asked if it was difficult for him to fall in love again after such a long time, he replies: “Oh yes! That was horror.” He also sometimes warned about himself and said: “Be careful, I come straight from a marriage, I can’t guarantee anything. I’m not at all sane right now,” said Mommsen. “But now it worked after all.”

Mommsen and his wife were together for more than 20 years and married in 2008.
