Actor Mads Mikkelsen is Danish and often films in Hollywood. But he also has a special relationship with Germany – and not just because Berlin is a magical city for him.
The family tree of Hollywood star Mads Mikkelsen (57) also includes distant ancestors from Germany. His middle name is Dittmann, so somewhere among his ancestors there were Germans, said the Danish actor, who played the villain Le Chiffre in the James Bond film “Casino Royale”, in an interview with the German Press Agency. They probably weren’t rich. “It turns out we weren’t barons. We were poor people, but we were there,” Mikkelsen said.
In the interview, the 57-year-old also spoke about German-Danish relations and his own relationship with the Federal Republic. “Well, I love Germany! Berlin is one of my favorite cities in the world, a magical city,” he said. Next week Mikkelsen will receive the Bambi in the “International Acting” category in Munich.
