“Stereotypically female” tasks: An ex-employee of the Hollywood actor sued for gender discrimination and won. Robert De Niro’s production company has to pay a fine.
A New York court has convicted Oscar winner Robert De Niro’s production company of gender discrimination. A jury in New York found on Thursday that the 80-year-old’s agency was liable and had to pay more than $1.2 million (1.1 million euros) to a woman, US media unanimously reported.
In the civil lawsuit, a former employee of De Niro complained that the actor gave her “stereotypically feminine” tasks such as washing his bed linen and other household chores while she worked in another position at the production company.
