Christiane Blumhoff: popular actress dies at the age of 81

The actress Christiane Blumhoff has died at the age of 81. The death of “the great actress and wonderful person” hit us completely unexpectedly: “We will miss your happiness and your heartfelt laughter!” My thoughts are with the family and I wish them a lot of strength.

Christiane Pearce-Blumhoff, her full name, was a well-known Bavarian actress who also appeared in countless national film and television productions. She appeared in more than 150 productions in her long career. Among other things, she was repeatedly seen in many well-known crime series such as “Der Alte”, “München Mord”, “Polizeiruf 110” and “Die Rosenheim-Cops”. In 2021 she last starred in “Tatort”, for which she appeared in front of the camera a total of four times.

Her son, the actor and comedian Simon Pearce (42), also confirmed Blumhoff’s death. Alongside several pictures of himself, his mother and his siblings, he wrote: “Mom, you went on your well-deserved trip to see dad and now you can finally dance together again.” It hurts “infinitely” and becomes difficult without her: “So much of what I am, I am thanks to you.”

Blumhoff, who was born in Danzig in 1942, fled after the end of the Second World War with her family, who settled in Munich. As a child she took on her first small roles in children’s radio and later played her first stage roles at the Munich Gärtnerplatztheater. Until recently she also worked in the theater. In the 1970s she met a Nigerian man in Munich, whom she later married. In 2004 her husband died of cancer. Blumhoff leaves behind three children and several grandchildren.
