Pete Davidson turns 30: good chances for a new life

Pete Davidson is turning 30 – and seems to be gradually leaving his turbulent and scandalous life behind him.

At 30 years old, Pete Davidson has already come a long way: he tragically lost his father as a child, he celebrated early fame, made headlines around the world alongside the most desirable women and struggled with health, mental and drug problems. On his big birthday today, there is hope that the “Saturday Night Live” comedian will finally take a calmer approach. There are many signs that the star is now getting his life under control.

After his recent withdrawal, he is confident

In mid-September, he not only looked fresher than he had in a long time at his comedy show in Atlantic City, he also proudly told the audience: “I just finished rehab, guys. I have that post-rehab glow about me.” As he further confessed, he had to seek treatment again and again. He said confidently, “The seventh time will finally bring me luck!” The American, who became known through “Saturday Night Live,” seems to have a lot planned for his new phase of life. He emphasized: “You can’t do drugs in your thirties anymore. It’s no longer cute. Then you’re just a drug addict.”

And he doesn’t want to be that anymore. For too long, his meteoric rise in show business had been under the influence of intoxicants. Even his famous and attractive girlfriends apparently couldn’t change that. With his humor, he has already inspired pop star Ariana Grande (30), model Kaia Gerber (22), actress Kate Beckinsale (50), “Bridgerton” star Phoebe Dynevor (28), reality star Kim Kardashian (43) and model Emily Ratajkowski (32). But there has been no long-term happiness so far.

Life at his side probably won’t be that easy either. Because it wasn’t just drug addiction that accompanied him. He suffered trauma from losing his father, Scott, when he was just seven years old. The firefighter died while on duty after the attack on September 11, 2001. Since then he has suffered from fear of loss. Davidson was later diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder, which he speaks openly about, encouraging other sufferers. He has also been suffering from the chronic inflammatory disease Crohn’s disease for several years.

After the accident he changed his life

Then came the fateful March 4th of this year, when Davidson crashed his car into a house in Los Angeles. Fortunately, no one was injured. However, he was sentenced to 50 hours of community service for “reckless driving”, which he was allowed to complete at his father’s fire station. Apparently the accident was also a serious warning shot for him: the comedian withdrew from the public eye over the summer and used the time for rehab. According to the US “Sun”, he is also said to be leading a completely new life away from New York City. He fled the seductive city of over a million people and settled in the country instead. Instead of going to parties, he now prefers to stay at home.

And so he can use his powers again for what he’s really good at: comedy. In the “Saturday Night Live” episode on October 14, 2023, he delivered a celebrated satire of the “Barbie” film: He quickly turned Ryan Gosling’s song “I’m Just Ken” into “I’m Just Pete” and took it making fun of yourself.
