“I’ve had a very interesting year,” Vergara explains at an event in Los Angeles. “I don’t want to say ‘bad’ or anything like that, but it was very interesting and very difficult. […] I got divorced this year, the SAG strike lasted so long.”

On the other hand, she addresses the labor dispute that lasted several months by the US actors’ union Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), which had joined the previously striking Hollywood screenwriters from the Writers Guild of America (WGA). “I saw my friends struggling – some had to take their kids out of school or had problems with their mortgages, so it’s been a strange, strange year,” says Vergara.
