The 33-year-old is ranked in the Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Country Artist categories, among others. Singer SZA and country star Morgan Wallen don’t have to hide either, with entries in 17 categories each. Canadian singer The Weeknd is seeded 16 times.
Swift has now sung herself into the absolute top league of pop stars, which is also reflected financially. After nearly two decades of creating music, she is now officially a billionaire. According to a Bloomberg analysis, her net worth is currently $1.1 billion. She owes this not least to her massive, 146-date worldwide Eras Tour, during which she will perform three times at the sold-out Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna next summer. The corresponding concert film has already grossed more than $200 million.
Swift is also gradually re-releasing her albums as “Taylor’s Version” including Vault bonus tracks. This means she gets the rights to the songs back. The pop queen advocates that artists should own their own songs and dispose of them. It wasn’t until the end of October that her milestone “1989” from 2014, with which she finally broke away from country and became a global pop phenomenon, was released as a new recording including five tracks from the archive.
Drake won last year
As far as the Billboard Awards are concerned, Canadian rapper Drake and US country singer Luke Combs are competing in the most important Top Artist category alongside Swift, SZA and Wallen. Musicians like Zach Bryan, Beyoncé and the German Kim Petras have several chances of winning in a total of 69 categories. Petras, who was born in the Rhineland, is in the running for the best collaboration with her album “Feed the Beast” in the Top Dance/Electronic Album category and together with the British singer Sam Smith for the club hit “Unholy”.
Last year, singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo won seven awards, including Top New Artist and Top Female Artist. Drake won the top award for Top Artist. The Billboard Awards have been presented annually since 1990 by the trade magazine of the same name and are largely based on chart positions.
