“An amparo was presented to the Court with a request for a precautionary measure requesting the suspension of the recital of Roger Waters scheduled to take place in Buenos Aires today for his anti-Semitic expressions and messages during his presentation at Montevideo, Uruguaylast Friday, November 17,” indicated the DAIA it’s a statement.


Why was Roger Waters denounced?
The first complaint was filed by Sergio Zigelbaum and his father Carlos Zigelbaumwho is a survivor of the Shoah. Both requested to be plaintiffs in the case for alleged discrimination that was filed before the prosecutor Andrea Scanga.
The British singer also received a complaint in Commodore Py from the lawyer Carlos Broitmanwho requested that he be investigated for the crimes of incitement to collective violence, apology for crime and violation of the discrimination law.
In the complaint of the Zigelbaum (father and son)it is pointed out that Waters “is known to be a recalcitrant anti-Semite.”

“In addition to his innumerable public statements (where he especially strenuously denigrates Jewish people, attributing to them prototypical characteristics of anti-Semitic ideology such as being “greedy,” “bankers” who control the world, etc.), he rages with an alarming hatred against State of Israel (not criticizing its policies but comparing it with Nazi Germany)”, they stated in the writing.
As stated in the complaint, “there are records of numerous public appearances and/or reports on Mr. Roger Waters in which he has stated, among other things, that world control is exercised by a group of Jews, among whom he particularly attacks the North American businessman. Sheldon Adelson and American ambassadors to the State of Israel.
The complainants demanded to “determine whether the aforementioned facts and acts committed by the Mr. Roger Waters are subsumed in the crime classified in the Art. 3 of Law No. 23,592 and/or in any other provision of the criminal system of the Argentine Republic”.
