British royal family: King Charles honors K-pop band Blackpink

They are one of the superstars of the K-Pop scene: Blackpink. Now there were medals for the South Korean girl band in London.

The British King Charles III. awarded the South Korean girl band Blackpink. The four musicians Jennie Kim, Jisoo Kim, Lisa Manobal and Rose Park now belong to the “Order of the British Empire”. This is intended to recognize their commitment to climate protection at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland in 2021.

Charles, 75, honored the women at Buckingham Palace in London. Their song “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” was also played during a changing of the guard, as the PA news agency reported.

The MBE – “Member of the Order of the British Empire” – is one of the lower ranks in the British Order of Merit system. Charles had already honored South Korean pop culture on Tuesday evening at a state banquet for President Yoon Suk Yeol, who is on a state visit to Great Britain.
