Matthew Ottonello, Uruguayan drummer, performs with his Buenos Aires trio. He invites us to investigate primitive melodies, with an electronic and rock sound mixed with jazz and candombe. Dive deep to search for your own voice, with one main objective: rhythm. He performs at Bebop Club with the bassist Javier Malosetti and the keyboard player Augusto Durañona.

Drummer and composer born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Ottonello is part of the young Uruguayan jazz scene, but he also develops as a session musician.


He has played with important musicians such as: Hugo Fattoruso, Luciano Supervielle, Claudio Taddei, Nicolás Ibarburu, Julieta Rada, Javier Malosetti (Arg), Hernán Jacinto (Arg), Coti (Arg).
He has participated on several occasions in the Montevideo Jazz Festival, the Jazz Tour UY and Jazz a la Calle in Mercedes. He was also present at the Cipolletti Jazz Festival.
He currently directs his own artistic residencies, inviting important musicians from the local and international scene. He leads his own group with music of his own, with which he released his first album (1612), in which he mixes his strong influence of candombe, jazz and rock.
Mateo Ottonello says: “We are starting to take music from a more spiritual side. Obviously we have to kill ourselves studying to be able to have all the tools to be able to play that music that is generated there, to be able to be a good channel to transmit.”
