José María Saluzzi returns to Buenos Aires after his European tour

The guitarist and composer José María Saluzzi, who has just returned to our country after a tour of Europe, will perform this Sunday, November 26, at 9:30 p.m., with his ensemble in Bebop Club, with which he performs music of his authorship. The group, which is completed by Matías Carazzo on soprano saxophone and clarinets, Martín Freiberg on drums and percussion, Mariano Agustoni on piano and keyboards and Mariano Martos on electric bass, offers an artistic proposal that combines written and improvised music, with strong influences from the Río de La Plata and the northwest of our country.

José María Saluzzi is an Argentine guitarist and composer. His introduction to music was at the age of seven with the help of his father, the renowned bandoneonist and composer Dino Saluzzi. He began as a drummer and percussionist accompanying Dino on his tours and recordings with the ECM label (Mojotoro, 1991), a collaboration that he continues to this day.

At the age of eighteen he made a turn, beginning his guitar studies in Argentina with Walter Malosetti and Aníbal Arias. He continued his musical training abroad with guitarists and composers Ralph Towner, Stanley Jordan and various international teachers. He delved into music and composition at the Catholic University of Buenos Aires (UCA) and at the University of Art and Music of Vienna, Austria, and completed a specialization in Chamber Music at the University of Lanús (province of Buenos Aires).

He has shared stages with Gerardo Gandini, Juan Falú, Javier Malosetti, Luis Salinas, Jaime Torres, Quique Sinesi, and on the international stage he has participated together with Jim Hall, Al Di Meola, Marc Johnson, Uli Soika, Arto Tuncboyaci, Pablo Márquez, Anja Lechner, Palle Mikkelborg, Palle Daniellson, Julia Malischnig, Jacob Young and Dino Saluzzi, among others. Presentations have included music of his own at various European festivals and concerts.

He works on multiple projects with his family and, independently, his own projects in Argentina and abroad with the Saluzzi-Fracchi-Bisgaard trio, with which he recorded the album Lugar in Denmark and made numerous tours throughout the Nordic country and Argentina. She recently recorded an album with his father and Norwegian guitarist Jacob Young, and is preparing for two European tours that will take place in the second half of 2023.

In the last year he has dedicated himself to the José María Saluzzi Ensemble, with which he performs music of his own, as well as that of his father. Through his compositions, he creates a new sound that crosses different musical forms, crossing improvisation, traditional Argentine folklore and avant-garde chamber music. He is considered one of the finest musicians because of the delicacy of his sound.

He has just toured Scandinavia with the Saluzzi-Fracchi-Bisgaard Trio, the Norwegian guitarist Jacob Young and the Danish vibraphonist Morten Grønvad.
