Rita Ora has traveled back to her roots. In Kosovo she exchanged ideas with Albin Kurti and received a lot of praise – on her birthday.
The singer and actress Rita Ora celebrated her 33rd birthday in Kosovo and was received there by Prime Minister Albin Kurti (48). The Pristina-born British artist visited her home country with her husband Taika Waititi (48). After landing on Sunday (November 26), Ora placed her right hand first on the ground and then on her heart, as shown on the online service X (formerly Twitter).
Kurti: “Rita Ora has made the whole of Kosovo proud”
“I’m 33 years old today and I think we’ve done very inspiring work (…) and I think we can look forward to great projects in the coming year,” Ora said in a statement. Her husband, the New Zealand film producer Taika Waititi, visited his wife’s home country for the first time and immediately felt “at home”.
After Ora thanked him for the warm welcome, she hugged the head of government. He emphasized that the singer had made the whole of Kosovo “proud”. He joked that he would have to watch the video again afterwards to convince himself that Rita Ora’s visit was really “real”.
The 33-year-old emigrated from Kosovo to Great Britain with her family as a baby. In 2018, the “Let You Love Me” interpreter performed in Pristina on the tenth anniversary of Serbia’s independence.
Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2008, but Belgrade still considers it a breakaway territory. The vast majority of the 1.8 million residents are ethnic Albanians. There are also 120,000 Serbs who live mainly in the north of the country.
