The story goes that, on one of his visits, the doctor asked a family to allow him to share the simple and inexpensive food they had: they were gnocchi, what we call here gnocchi.

In gratitude, he predicted “a year of fishing and excellent harvests” and he fulfilled. In fact, The meeting between Pantaleón and the family took place on the 29th, so the custom of eating the dish on that date of each month began to transcend. with the “trick” of leaving money under each plate to attract economic prosperity.
