“The Christmas season is the most wonderful time of the year,” says Lena Gercke happily. The model invited people to the Christmas party in Berlin.
“I’m absolutely in the Christmas spirit,” says Lena Gercke (35) happily on the sidelines of her LeGer Christmas Party in Berlin. This year she also rang in the Christmas season with many celebrity friends. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the mother of two reveals her favorite Christmas traditions and looks back on a “turbulent” 2023.
Dear Lena, are you already in the Christmas spirit?
Lena Gercke: I’m absolutely in the Christmas spirit. It’s been snowing in Berlin for two days, my Christmas tree has been standing at home for two weeks and today we’re having our legendary LeGer Christmas Party, which really gets me in the Christmas spirit again.
What are you most looking forward to during Advent?
Gercke: What I’m most looking forward to is baking cookies, decorating the house with my family, getting the Advent calendars ready for the kids and of course our Christmas party.
Your second daughter’s first birthday is coming up before Christmas. How is it celebrated?
Gercke: My second daughter is only one year old, so we’re celebrating on a very small scale with the family and a few friends, cozy at home. The weather will probably be very cold, so we’ll make ourselves comfortable indoors.
Do you have all your birthday and Christmas presents together yet?
Gercke: I was actually really fast this year. I already have all the birthday and Christmas presents for the children. We adults don’t actually give each other anything at Christmas anymore because we said we were able to buy things as we needed them. There might be a little surprise here and there, but otherwise the focus is actually on the children when it comes to gifts.
Who brings the presents to your home – Santa Claus or the Christ child?
Gercke: Santa Claus comes to us, although when I was a child the Christ child always came. But we both feel like it’s a little more modern and fits more into our lives when Santa comes.
Which Christmas traditions are particularly close to your heart?
Gercke: So the most important thing is that the whole family celebrates Christmas and that we are all together. Then it’s really important to me that there’s a Christmas atmosphere, which is why we usually go to the mountains and celebrate Christmas in the snow to really get into the winter and Christmas spirit and of course that the presents are opened on Christmas Eve and Christmas carols are sung. We also cook and bake together and always watch the film “A Nice Present”.
What’s on your table for Christmas?
Gercke: We always make raclette on Christmas Eve because it’s just a nice meal where everyone can be together and you have something to do for a long time and don’t stand in the kitchen for hours and then eat everything in ten minutes, we do celebrate food and time together. On Christmas Day, either a goose or duck is served on the table.
Cookies, Christmas goose and lots of chocolate: Do you also pay attention to your figure during the holidays?
Gercke: Absolutely not. I’m very overindulgent over Christmas, I eat everything I can get my hands on and really enjoy it because Christmas is simply the best time of the year and that of course includes food. I just love hearty Christmas dinner and especially cookies.
With the Christmas season the final spurt for 2023 begins. What is your personal balance for the year?
Gercke: It was definitely a very turbulent year. With a baby, the family simply has to completely rediscover and reposition itself. That was a wonderful, but of course also very intense time. I learned a lot about myself this year, but I’m just happy that we mastered everything so well and that we’re now coming to a nice conclusion with the LeGer Christmas Party. I have experienced so many great highlights this year and am now looking forward to the Christmas season, to some peace and quiet and a time in which you can reflect a little.
What do you want for 2024?
Gercke: If I could express one very big wish, then of course I, like everyone else in the world, would like for times to become calmer again, for things to be peaceful, for families and children to be able to feel comfortable and safe. Especially in times like these, it is important that we all stick together more.
