Udo Lindenberg has been using his skills for UNICEF Christmas cards since 2011. Now there is the 2023 version.
Udo Lindenberg (77) has designed a UNICEF Christmas greeting card for the 13th time. This was presented this Thursday by the United Nations Children’s Fund. This year, the singer redesigned one of his well-known Christmas motifs – the peace symbol – to symbolize peace, solidarity and love in the world.
He appeals for love and peace
The Christmas greeting card shows the well-known rock singer skating in front of a colorful peace sign – with a UNICEF blue streak in his hair. “Colourful is the color of choice these days. Let’s hold hands – don’t look away, support each other,” UNICEF quoted the Hamburg native as saying in a press release. “Peace & Love instead of hate and violence – there is no other way out of all this chaos.”
He wants to use ice skating to represent the fragile world situation. “It’s pretty thin ice that we’re walking on – all these stupid wars, environmental destruction, social unrest, human rights violations in so many countries.” He thinks worriedly about the next generation: “The kiddies are the ones who suffer the most from the endless madness in the world. If we have to change – there is no alternative.”
Lindenberg has been committed to UNICEF for decades
Udo Lindenberg has been actively involved with UNICEF since 2001. He has designed a Christmas greeting card every year since 2011. The sales proceeds go to global aid programs for children. The card is available at www.unicef.de/karten, the assortment of five costs 11 euros. In addition, UNICEF groups offer the Lindenberg work at Christmas markets and stands.
