Yesterday, Governor Thomas Stelzer announced which cultural personalities would be honored by the state of Upper Austria this year. The highest award, the Grand State Culture Prize worth 11,000 euros each, goes to the visual artist Margit Palme and the writer Anselm Glück. The state culture prizes (7,500 euros each) go to Nicole Six and Paul Petritsch (visual arts), the Linz cultural association Time’s Up (experimental and interdisciplinary forms of artistic work), Gabriella Huhn (cultural studies and humanities) and Karin Peschka (literature).
The networking center for women in art and culture Fiftitu% was awarded the Grand State Prize for Cultural Work Initiative (7,500 euros), while the Media Culture House in Wels and the Frikulum cultural association in Weyer received the Small State Prize for Cultural Work Initiative (2,700 euros each). Eleven people will receive talent promotion awards worth 5,400 euros each, which will be awarded in the same four categories as the state culture awards. The prizes will be presented on December 19th in the Linzer Landhaus.
