“Love Story” actor Ryan O’Neal died this Friday in Los Angeles, his son Patrick O’Neal said in a post on the social network Instagram.

O’Neal, 82, starred in the classic 1970 romance film alongside Ali MacGraw.


“My father passed away peacefully today, with his loving team at his side supporting and loving him as he would love us,” Patrick O’Neal wrote.
While the family did not share the cause of his death, O’Neal had been diagnosed with chronic leukemia in 2001 and also prostate cancer in 2012.
O’Neal’s acting career took off when he landed a role on the late-night soap opera “Peyton Place” in 1964, although he also achieved recognition for his performance in “The Devil’s Cauldron”; “Barry London” and “A Bridge Far Away.”
His love life, meanwhile, was also busy and attracted the attention of the media, as he had romances with other showbiz stars such as Farrah Fawcett, Ursula Andress, Bianca Jagger, Jacqueline Bisset, Diana Ross and Angelica Huston, among others.
