The singer, winner of 30 Grammys and who had his greatest success with the band “Calle 13”, was going to release in October of this year a new solo album, the second of his careerin addition to other collaborations with different artists.

However, as a result of the armed conflict that has once again confronted Israel and Palestine since October 7, the renowned artist decided to put a stop to it: “Why doesn’t everything stop like in the pandemic? We stop everything and focus on what is happening in Gaza”he asked in the video.
In addition, the Resident urged other artists to echo what happened on their social networks, not just to “model clothes.” And finally, he stated: “By supporting Palestine, you are on the right side of history.”
Resident and political conflicts
It is not the first time that Residente takes a political position in the face of a global conflict. Already from his time on Calle 13, the lyrics written by Residente called for social involvement. From “Latinoamérica” to “This is Not America,” the rapper seeks to mobilize his audience about the causes he considers just.
With the conflict in the Middle East on the surface, Residente returned to the fray. Actively, from his social networks, he urged his audience to get involved in the issue: “You can support the Palestinians and their rights to end the occupation and not support Hamas. “You can support the rights of the Palestinians and disagree with the Iranian regime,” he expressed on his Instagram days after the conflict began.
The collaboration with Wos: their latest release
With the postponement of the release of his new album, fans of the former Calle 13 will have to continue waiting, even if it is until 2024, to listen to new material from the artist. Neither Residente nor his team have given further details about when the long-awaited album will be released.
