Fans are worried about Patti Smith after she was hospitalized during her Italian tour. She is now doing better again.
Patti Smith (76) is apparently on the mend after her sick stay in Bologna. As the “Los Angeles Times” reports, the singer was able to leave the clinic on Wednesday. Previously, her concert planned for December 12th had to be canceled for health reasons. Further appearances are also canceled for the time being.
“In good health”
The singer-songwriter known as the “Godmother of Punk” was released from the hospital after a day. This was announced by the local health authority in Bologna, according to the Los Angeles Times. Patti Smith was released “after a short period of observation in the emergency room” and is “in good health.” The medical team also explained that the artist could return to the stage after an “appropriate rest period”. The newspaper also published a photo of the singer laughing with hospital staff.
The singer suddenly fell ill on Tuesday in the middle of her Italian tour. She was actually supposed to perform that evening at the Theater Duse in Bologna. “It is with great regret that we inform the audience that Patti Smith’s concert cannot take place due to the artist’s sudden illness.” It is not yet known exactly what health conditions led to the hospital stay. On Wednesday, the day she was discharged from the hospital, she was in touch again and remembered the birthday of the singer Tom Verlaine, who died in January and would have been 74 on December 13th.
Patti Smith has been on tour through Italy for days. She has already performed in Modena, Naples, Pescara and Ancona. Their last performance to date took place on December 11th in Siena Cathedral. Not only is the concert in Bologna cancelled, her upcoming performances in Venice and Milan have also been cancelled. It is still unclear whether the appointments will be rescheduled.
