136 participating media from 22 countries, more than 3,500 submissions in 20 categories – the 25th European Newspaper Award was once again the world’s largest newspaper competition, in which the OÖNachrichten once again scored points – and in a category that was particularly close to our hearts.
The concept of the initiative “Our Forest – 100,000 Trees for Upper Austria” received an award, as did the “Hoamatland” edition, which dealt with this topic. Together with our readers and our cooperation partners, we have already implemented a lot; more than 50,000 trees have been planted and the series will continue in spring. So thanks for the award also goes to you, dear readers!
There was another award for the front page, which remained white on May 3rd, Press Freedom Day. It was a collaboration between all daily newspapers in Austria to draw attention to the endangered media diversity in Austria.
