His first appearance in a film lasted 20 seconds: In 1987, Brad Pitt appeared in the US comedy “Hunk”. He played a young guy relaxing on the beach with his girlfriend. Pitt posed shirtless and drank from a cup with a straw. The then 24-year-old dreamed of a career in Hollywood and had stopped his journalism studies shortly before graduating. In Los Angeles he kept himself afloat with small acting jobs and modeling assignments.
The breakthrough came in 1991 with the road movie “Thelma & Louise,” in which Pitt seduced actress Geena Davis. He got rid of his image as a sex symbol and heartthrob – and kept it throughout the 1990s. The roles became bigger, followed by the first awards and relationships with actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston. There was huge excitement when Pitt left Aniston for Angelina Jolie, with whom he had three children and adopted three more. When Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 and a dirty war of the roses broke out, Brad Pitt dominated the headlines again.
Now he is 60 and seems more relaxed than ever. Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, with whom Pitt is collaborating for his new film, noted: “He looks like he’s aging backwards. He’s super fit.”
