The Spanish journalist and writer Ruth Baza has filed a rape complaint with the Torremolinos (Málaga) police against Gerard Depardieu due to events that occurred in Paris in 1995, where he went to interview the French actor.
Police sources in Malaga have confirmed to the EFE agency that the complaint was filed last week, as reported today by the newspaper La Vanguardia.
Baza has reported that in 1995, when he was collaborating with Cinemanía magazine, he traveled to Paris to interview Depardieu on the occasion of the premiere of Colonel Chabert (Yves Angelo, 1994).
The interview took place in the offices of the production company Roissy Fims, on Avenue Georges V in Paris, it lasted more than an hour and at the end, the French actor began to kiss her on the face and lips “with a frenzy” and gave her the hand in the groin.
“Suddenly I noticed his hand on my chest and then on my crotch, I couldn’t move, I disconnected from my body because he had invaded me.. I didn’t feel anything, I only remember the smell of alcohol and nicotine in my mouth, I don’t know how long it lasted,” Baza explained to La Vanguardia, where she claims that the actor penetrated her with his fingers.
The complaints against Depardieu
The reputation of Depardieu, 74 years old and one of the best-known French actors, with titles to his credit such as Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) or the saga Asterix and Obelix (1999-2012), has deteriorated in the last year due to the formal accusation of two women for sexual assaults and for having been publicly accused by more than a dozen.
Additionally, at the beginning of this month a video was released that is part of an unreleased documentary directed by Yann Moixin which the actor made sexist and obscene comments.
“I have a beam in my pants” is just one of the comments heard from the actor, who, as a spectator in a riding arena, makes numerous obscene and sexualizing comments, including towards girls, about women and the practice of riding a horse.
A few days later, the French Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul Malakannounced that the withdrawal of the Legion of Honor, the highest French distinction, awarded to Depardieu in 1996, would be studied.
And last Saturday, the actor made this distinction available to the minister, as stated in a statement from his lawyers, who criticized Andul Malak for “participating in the media lynching” against Depardieu.
