Mario Adorf: For him, gifts are not a question of the date

Mario Adorf spends Christmas with his wife Monique in Paris. There is no traditional celebration or gifts.

Mario Adorf (93) celebrates Christmas “hardly at all and certainly not traditionally”. The actor revealed that he is traveling from his hometown of Munich to Paris over the holidays with his French-born wife Monique Faye (79). The couple, who have been married for almost forty years, celebrate there in a small circle. “We invite friends, instead of a Christmas tree we have a flower arrangement,” he told AZ.

He “doesn’t need any specified holidays” for gifts

Mario Adorf doesn’t give gifts: “We give each other small gifts all year round; we don’t need any specific holidays for that.”

French Christmas suits the actor more than German Christmas. “In Germany, Advent and Christmas are celebrated in a big way, in France these days are less about tradition and more about a nice meal with lovely people.” That suits the Zurich-born son of a German mother and an Italian father more.

The Adorfs are going to St. Tropez for New Year’s Eve. They also celebrate there with friends.

Mario Adorf and Monique Faye have been in a relationship since 1968

Mario Adorf has been married to Monique Faye for the second time since 1985. The couple has been in a relationship since 1968. “There are many older men who are looking for a younger woman,” “But I love watching my wife age with me. I see this process with a lot of tenderness and affection.”

As he gets older, he sees himself as a better husband. “The temptations from before are gone,” he said two years ago.
