During the Christmas season, Dolly Parton fulfilled one of his greatest wishes with a surprise phone call to a terminally ill fan.
Dolly Parton (77) made a big wish come true for a man suffering from cancer with a phone call during the Christmas season. LeGrand Gold was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019. This led to a “bucket list” on which Gold and his wife wrote eleven points that they still wanted to experience together. One of them: Meet Dolly Parton once.
In December, the man living in Utah found out that the chemotherapy was no longer working and the cancer had spread. He had already said goodbye to the desire to meet the country star, as he told “KSL-TV”. On Friday morning (December 22nd), Parton called the father of five.
The 77-year-old began the conversation with the words: “Hey LG! It’s Dolly P!” She then thanked his fan loyalty and said: “I’m just happy to know that I touched your life in some way. Thank you for honoring me with this.”
Gold and his wife also got the opportunity to thank Parton, as can be heard on one page. “You’ve been a big help, especially these last two years,” Gold shared with the star.
Dolly Parton sings: “I will always love LG”
Towards the end of the call, Parton told LeGrand that she will “always love him” before singing “I Will Always Love You,” changing the lyrics to “I will always love LG.” “I feel like I’m immortal now,” Gold said in the interview after the conversation.
