“It doesn’t go any further”: tension with good actors

Alex Tossenberger is the author of “QTH” (a patrol guards a corner of the Beagle Channel during the conflict), “The Wolf’s Lair” (a hermit takes care of an injured man while facing the ambitions of someone who wants to buy his land at any cost). coast), and several other films, all of which are distinguished by the originality of their plots and, almost all, by the beauty of their Patagonian locations. He has powerful and unique ideas but they are sometimes diluted in length.

The year closes, precisely, with a new film of his, “No va más”. This time, the budget is not enough to film in Patagonia, the cast is reduced to only three people and everything takes place in less than one night, in a single place, a kind of warehouse where two men have a kidnapped man. With the rescue they plan to get rid of malaria. But they are inexperienced, they are nervous, and the other, a massive, imposing man, remains calm and begins to handle them. The situation is unique and the actors are appropriate: Carlos Portaluppi, Marcos Montes, and, opposite them, Carlos Kaspar. For a long time no one can imagine how the conflict will be resolved, and even suspects something out of the ordinary in the person of the calm kidnapped person. For some reason, perhaps, the work is subtitled “The Devil Doesn’t Play Dice.”

“No va más” (Argentina, 2023). Dir.: A. Tossenberger. Int.: C. Portalupi, C. Kaspar, M. Montes.
