The Austrian football legend Toni Polster (59) suffered a perforated stomach and had to undergo surgery. Corresponding previous media reports have now been confirmed both by his club SC Wiener Viktoria and on his homepage.
“Toni underwent immediate and successful surgery on Thursday following a perforated stomach,” in a short statement. The trainer is therefore “currently still in the intensive care unit for observation”. However, the condition of the former professional footballer is “good to very good given the circumstances”. His club wishes him a “get well soon”
SC Wiener Viktoria also speaks out and says “get well soon”. The attached comment says: “As was reported by the media yesterday, our trainer suffered a perforated stomach on Thursday and was immediately operated on successfully!”
