The actors of the Linzer Theater Phönix do not hide on their stage at Wiener Straße 25. Theater Phoenix posters have been shining on the facade of the empty business premises at Landstraße 35b (Mozartkreuzung) for days. Speculation about a new venue in the center had already made the rounds. Yesterday at 2 p.m. all questions were answered: Karina Pele and Lukas Weiss presented their version of the New Year’s Eve classic behind the shop windows “dinner for one” on the improvised stage. Anyone who missed the 18-minute sketch has another chance today (Saturday, 2 p.m.) and tomorrow (Sunday, 11 a.m.).
“No, we won’t play here more often”says Phönix managing director Olivia Schütz. And further: “We had the opportunity to rent this room cheaply for a few days in order to draw attention to ourselves. We are already planning to become more present in public spaces in order to raise awareness of theater even more among the population.”
