It wasn’t an easy year for Sarah Ferguson: After breast cancer surgery, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife is now looking confidently into the future.
British Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, looks back on a year 2023 with “ups and downs, trials, lessons, laughter, wonders and joy” in an Instagram post. The 64-year-old listed the birth of a grandson and the success of a new romance novel as beautiful events.
In addition, the mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also remembers her breast cancer diagnosis last year and the operation that followed in June, in which one of her breasts was removed and replaced. “I beat breast cancer and now I have a Derek on my left side,” writes the Duchess of York, referring to the name she gave her new breast.
She also met “very inspiring people from all over the world with wonderful stories” and discovered that she herself still had a lot to tell, Ferguson wrote. “I’m 64 and just starting out.” Last week, Ferguson was invited to the Christmas service with the British royal family for the first time in decades.
