Even if you can hardly believe it: Dieter Bohlen will be 70 years old on February 7th. But that’s no reason for the pop titan to put his feet up. On the contrary: while others of his age are enjoying their well-deserved retirement, he is really getting started again on his big birthday.
“It was sad for me at the time”
The well-known TV juror is back in the RTL saddle after his forced break. In the first half of 2024 he can be seen again in “his” two casting shows. “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” is starting its 21st season, “Das Supertalent” is also returning. What a triumph for Bohlen. The station had actually already sent the man with the biting sayings into retirement at the beginning of 2021. “After almost two decades (…) now is the right time for change and further development,” it was said at the time. A tough time for Bohlen, as he recently revealed in the “Bild” interview: “It was sad for me back then that I couldn’t be there anymore. It wasn’t a nice feeling when you’re at home and you see that they are show was produced with someone else.” But the “DSDS” season with successor Florian Silbereisen (42) fell short of ratings expectations and so there was a sensation in 2022: RTL brought Germany’s most famous TV judge back. In 2023 it was announced that “DSDS” would even be extended. Actually, the 20th season was supposed to end. But now Dieter Bohlen can go again together with Pietro Lombardi (31), Beatrice Egli (35) and Loredana (28).
And he can also excel again in the “Supertalent” category in his anniversary year. The 2021 season without him also had weak ratings, and in 2022 and 2023 RTL paused the talent search for the time being. Now Bohlen is back and was even allowed to bring his most important co-juror with him: “I’m particularly happy that Bruce Darnell is there again. That was my big wish,” he said to “Bild” during filming in December. He is said to have been very moved by the fact that the studio audience greeted him with applause that lasted for several minutes.
He is giving a concert on his 70th
In 2024 you will see the pop titan frequently on TV again. But fans can also experience the modern talking legend on the music stage: the man celebrating his birthday is planning a special birthday concert. “He wouldn’t be Dieter Bohlen if he didn’t celebrate this memorable day (February 7th, 2024) together with his fans with a mega concert in Berlin,” said a press release in August. “Many people go to the spa at the age of 70, unlike Dieter Bohlen. He rocks the stage at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz.” The musician himself was quoted as saying: “If thousands of people support you so faithfully throughout your entire career, then it goes without saying that I would give them the opportunity to experience an unforgettable show with me on February 7th, 2024. “
Actually, only one thing would be missing in 2024: that Bohlen finally makes his private happiness with his Carina Walz (39) official. The two have been together since 2006 and have two children. But he has so far shied away from a third marriage. “Things that are in balance and that work completely, why do you have to change anything about them? I don’t see the need,” he said in an RTL interview a year ago, but added: “That might come at some point.” The new decade of life would be a good starting point for a new marriage.
