The challenge of playing Ken for Ryan Gosling

Elsewhere in his interview with W magazine, Gosling said his first impression of playing Ken was one of complete intimidation.

“It was the cover of the script, which said ‘Barbie and Ken’, but ‘and Ken’ was crossed out. And the next impression was: this is the most difficult role I will ever play,” he said. “How do you approach playing a 70-year-old crotchless doll? There is no research you can do about it. There is no one you can follow, no documentaries you can watch, no books written about Ken. You’re on your own”.

Margot Robbie She told the magazine that “Ryan always had these tricks up his sleeve” to keep her on her toes while filming. “I would be caught off guard by them,” she said. “The thing about the double sunglasses [cuando Ken usa dos pares de gafas de sol para la ‘noche de chicos’] It was his idea. It was a random shot and appeared in the cut of the film. And shouting ‘Sublime!’ on a certain moment. It was like he was always in the front row to entertain me.”
