Was it because of the loss to “Barbie” or a joke at her expense? Why did Taylor Swift leave the Golden Globes early?
Taylor Swift (34) apparently left the Golden Globes ceremony early on Sunday evening – and fans are speculating about the reason for her early exit. The singer was nominated for a prize in the new category “Best Box Office Achievement” for her concert film “The Eras Tour”, i.e. for the best commercial success at the box office. But the award went to “Barbie”.
After Taylor Swift initially celebrated the “Barbie” team with a standing ovation, TV viewers noticed that the singer was apparently no longer sitting at their table. She had previously appeared there alongside her good friend Keleigh Sperry (31). “I’m 90 percent sure Taylor left the event,” one fan wrote on social media. “It hasn’t been shown since ‘Barbie’ won.”
“Well I didn’t win anything, the show sucks, there’s nothing nice to do here anymore and the host sucks, bye,” another user speculated about the reason for Swift’s alleged departure.
Humorous reaction to a gag from the moderator
The swipe at the moderator referred to a joke that Jo Koy (52) made at Taylor Swift’s expense. “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL is that at the Golden Globes we have fewer camera angles of Taylor Swift,” the comedian joked.
Jo Koy was alluding to the headlines that Taylor Swift’s liaison with football star Travis Kelce (34) is making. At National Football League (NFL) games, the musician is often shown supporting the Kansas City Chiefs player in the stands. This causes dissatisfaction among many football fans.
Swift responded to Jo Koy’s joke with icy silence. Instead of ostentatiously laughing, as many celebrities do at award shows when they gag at their own expense, the superstar just took a sip of his drink with an annoyed look.
