Franz Beckenbauer (1945-2024) is dead and the state of shock within the football world continues unchanged. On the one hand, the city of Munich, led by Mayor Dieter Reiter (65, SPD), has laid out a book of condolence in the Munich City Hall until Friday, January 12, 2024, in memory of one of the city’s most famous sons. Munich residents can register there on the second floor of the famous Marienplatz opposite room 200. The town hall is open until Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

FC Bayern Munich also gives its fans space for mourning. There is a book of condolence in the entrance area of ​​the club’s headquarters on Säbener Straße, and another in the official FC Bayern Museum in the Allianz Arena in the “Hall of Fame”. For all fans who cannot make the journey to the Bavarian capital, a digital version of the book was also activated on January 10, 2024 from 10 a.m. All Beckenbauer supporters have the opportunity to register here until the end of the month. After January 31, 2024, the two traditional condolence books and the digital version will be combined into one work in a complete edition.

Commemoration in the Allianz Arena on January 19th

In addition, FC Bayern Munich has now officially confirmed that a memorial service for Franz Beckenbauer will be held in the Allianz Arena on Friday, January 19th from 3 p.m. The record champions invite “all friends and companions from national and international sports, culture and politics as well as all fans and the entire football family” to say goodbye to the “unforgotten emperor” in the stadium. Details about the memorial service, such as the possibility of obtaining tickets, are not yet known.
