Taylor Swift a Defense Department Agent: The Pentagon Responds to Fox News Conspiracy Theory.
The Pentagon denies a conspiracy theory surrounding Taylor Swift (34). The US Department of Defense “shrugged off” rumors that the superstar was an “agent” in reference to Swift’s hit “Shake It Off”. But first things first.
Superstar Taylor Swift really took off again in 2023. The singer became a billionaire this year and alone accounted for almost two percent of the American music market. For Jesse Watters (45), this success is suspicious. The conservative commentator offered an explanation for this on Fox News. Swift is “a front for a hidden political agenda” of the Democratic government. “Have you ever wondered why or how it took off?” he asked.
Taylor Swift as a “tool to combat misinformation online”?
As evidence, Jesse Watters used a clip from a 2019 conference sponsored by NATO. A speaker mentioned Taylor Swift as an example of an influential person. The Pentagon’s psychological warfare department has suggested that NATO “turn Taylor Swift into a tool to combat misinformation on the Internet,” said the moderator. A partnership that Taylor Swift has just entered into with Vote.org serves as “proof”. The non-profit organization is encouraging young people to register for the US presidential election.
“As far as this conspiracy theory is concerned, we will shake it off,” is the reaction of Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh (36).
Andrea Hailey, head of Vote.org, also spoke up. Our partnership with Taylor Swift is helping all Americans make their voices heard at the ballot box.” Her organization is not a psychological warfare or Pentagon tool: “Just the largest nonpartisan platform in America helping young people register and vote to cast a vote”.
