It is now clear what a dramatic family event lies behind this vague announcement by the mother of five and widow of Jens Büchner (1969-2018): Büchner’s 20-year-old nephew died in a terrible car accident in the Oldenburg district on Sunday evening.
“As a family, we are in shock.” And further: “Of course I will be with my sister in Germany in the next few days to support her as best as I can. The most important thing is and remains the family, we always stick together,” said Büchner. “He was so young,” she adds.
The young man is said to have “gone off the road in a curve for reasons that are still unclear and crashed head-on into a tree,” to whom Büchner also confirmed the terrible news. Any help came too late for him; he died at the scene of the accident.
It is unclear which of her five sisters lost their son. As the station reports, she is “also a single parent” and has “two other children aged 18 and 13”.
