Ryan Gosling: Instant memes with reaction to price

He can’t help it: Ryan Gosling becomes an instant meme with his reaction to the Critics Choice Award for “I’m Just Ken.”

Ryan Gosling’s (43) “Barbie” song “I’m Just Ken” won an award at the Critics Choice Awards. But the actor doesn’t jump up in celebration. Instead, he looks around, expressionless and confused.

Gosling’s reaction immediately went viral. “He just created a meme with his face,” someone wrote on Instagram. “No one tries as hard as Ryan Gosling not to become a meme, and no one fails as hard as Ryan Gosling,” commented another user.

Ryan Gosling has been the subject of memes in the past. A photo from “Drive,” which shows him stoically behind the wheel of a car, is often posted in connection with bizarre accidents. Memes with a picture of Gosling and a womanizing saying that always begins with the words “Hey Girl” are also widespread.

At the Critics Choice Awards, Gosling was not allowed (or required) to take the stage. The award for best song went to the composers Mark Ronson (48) and Andrew Wyatt (52). “This prize is as much yours as it is ours,” Ronson shouted to Gosling. “You made the audience fall in love with this song with your incomparable performance,” said the musician, who is known, among other things, as the producer of Amy Winehouse (1983-2011).

Surprising victory over two “Barbie” songs

“I’m Just Ken” beat out two other songs from “Barbie”: “What Was I Made For” by Billie Eilish (22) and “Dance the Night” sung by Dua Lipa (28). Billie Eilish won the Golden Globe together with her brother Finneas O’Connell (26) and was also favored at the Critics Choice Awards.

Some observers speculate that Ryan Gosling’s irritation stemmed from the fact that he didn’t expect his song to win in the face of internal competition from “Barbie.”
