Mourning for Elisabeth Trissenaar: Fassbinder actress was 79 years old

Mourning for Elisabeth Trissenaar: The well-known film and theater actress died in Berlin on Sunday at the age of 79.

The Austrian actress Elisabeth Trissenaar (1944-2024) is dead. As Peter Raue (82), her family’s lawyer, confirmed on Monday, among other things, Trissenaar died on the evening of January 14th in the Berlin Charité. The widow of the director Hans Neuenfels (1941-2022), who died in February 2022, was 79 years old.

Great successes in the theater

Trissenaar met her future husband in the 1960s while studying acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. Their son Benedict Neuenfels (57), who is a successful cameraman, was born in 1966.

From 1966 onwards, the Austrian celebrated her first successes at the theater in Krefeld. She subsequently also appeared on stage at the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, the Burgtheater in Vienna, Zurich and Cologne. In the 1980s she worked in her adopted home of Berlin, among others, at the Schillertheater and the Freie Volksbühne.

Collaboration with Rainer Werner Fassbinder

The German directing legend Rainer Werner Fassbinder (1945-1982) met Trissenaar at the beginning of the 1970s. The filmmaker, who died in 1982, gave her roles in his well-known films “The Marriage of Maria Braun” and “In a Year with 13 Moons” as well as the series “Berlin Alexanderplatz”. She appeared in front of the camera for the Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland (75) in “Bitter Harvest” and was seen alongside Harald Juhnke in the television film “The Captain of Köpenick” in 1997.
